Microsoft's Office 365 has been giving some users cold sweats. No matter how hard they try to log in, they simply can't access the service and haven't been able to for hours – others say it has wobbled for days.
I am having the same problem. Migrated a free team folder and I can no longer edit the MS office files on line. In fact in our case we even have a MS Office 365 subscription (Business Essentials), which it does not recognise to be valid, requesting me to sign up for any of their plans Business Essentials!!!, Business or Business Premium. I uninstalled Office 365 using RASA as suggested. Then I reinstalled Office 365 using the image I downloaded from my MS account / services and subscriptions section. Install went ok. When I opened Word, everything seemed ok, but after about half a minute, I got a security prompt asking for my microsoft account password. If you are unable to sign into Microsoft Office (or Outlook repeatedly prompts you for login, does not show any data, edit a Word/Excel/PowerPoint data file, or receive encrypted connection error) it may be due to a NetID password change, a NetID change, or corrupted account credentials. Follow some common solutions to this issue below.
Sporadic reports of unrest began to emerge on Down Detector on Friday (26 October) in the UK and across the pond, stopped over the weekend and started again prior to 0800 GMT today. Office 365's web woes have still not been resolved at the time of writing.
The first complaint was spotted on Twitter just after 0700 GMT.

My Office 365 Sign In
Microsoft has said it is 'investigating issues related to repeated credential prompts and users being unable to log in using the Outlook client under EX152471'. It asked admins to 'please check the admin centre for more details'.
This seemed to inflame some, with complaints that Microsoft needed to acknowledge and regularly update users in times of web service darkness.
This was from yesterday!!!! Furthermore, my users were reporting this on FRIDAY and I spent all weekend troubleshooting this. Please for the love of god find a way to get these advisories posted sooner. Animal crossing new leaf official site.

#meetoo We got the same problem here. Opening files from Onedrive Client doesnt work, login doesn't get accepted. Tried reinstalling Office, now Office activation fails as well. We need a solution for this.

Finally! We've got multiple users who cannot add outlook profiles, autodiscover fails, password prompts, can't activate office, something has gone wrong!

In the advisory, Microsoft said some users who had updated to Office 2016 build 16.0.7967 or later versions on Windows 10 may have experienced problems.
There are eight symptoms, Microsoft said, including the Office sign-in workflow stopping or showing no on-screen progress, and users receiving a 'You'll need the Internet for this' message when they switched networks or their PC woke up after a long suspension.
We have asked Microsoft to explain why some of its users are having such a hard time, why not everyone seems to be impacted and why this is happening on both sides of the Atlantic. ®
